Service Description
Our alert service is for those who have already implemented the NPI data set in their own software and provides:- Monthly notification as soon as CMS has published the latest dataset
- Technical notes, including notes about corrupt files, corrupt data and the changes we needed to make to properly process the file.
- Access to additional technical resources available online.
If you have already implemented the NPI data set and have your own update processes you know that the files that CMS publishes are sometimes corrupt. In May, 2008, here was the message on the download website:
"The NPPES file that was made available for downloading on May 22, 2008 contained two corrupted files. Those files have been replaced and the May NPPES file is now available...."
In addition, CMS sometimes changes the file structure quite a bit month to month - adding 37 columns to the file between April and June 2008.
